Vita
Maike Hering completed a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Freiburg and then went on to complete a master's degree in psychology at the University of Leipzig. These studies were complemented by a semester abroad at the University of Granada and a semester abroad at the University of Edinburgh. During her studies, she worked as a research assistant (including at the University of Freiburg and the Leibniz Institute in Dresden) and gained practical experience in the field of science.
In her master's thesis, Maike Hering examined the role of emotions in sustainable behavior. This insight into the field of sustainability laid the foundation for her subsequent work as a research assistant in the Department of Sustainable Development and Change at the University of Hohenheim.
As part of her work at the University of Hohenheim, she began to explore the consequences of smart technology for sustainability and is currently conducting research in the field of human-AI interaction. For example, she is investigating how attitudes toward AI can be recorded in a future-proof manner and which psychological determinants predict the use of AI.
Since May 2025, she pursues a doctorate in human-AI interaction in public administration as part of the good administration doctoral program. She is taking a quantitative-empirical approach, and her project is supported by a mentoring team consisting of Prof. Dr. Siegmar Otto (University of Hohenheim), Prof. Dr. Birgit Schenk (HVF Ludwigsburg), and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Boockmann (University of Tübingen).
