<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Welcome to the Graduate College Good Administration<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The University of Hohenheim<\/a>, the University of Public Administration and Finance Ludwigsburg<\/a> and the Eberhard Karls University of T\u00fcbingen<\/a> have jointly developed the idea for a graduate college on the topic of \u2018Good Administration: From Better Regulation to Good Administrative Action\u2019. The college will be funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg<\/a> from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This college offers twelve graduates from universities and universities of applied sciences the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in an interdisciplinary, applied field of research and (hopefully) contribute to the future viability of public administration through their research. <\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>What it's all about ...<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Good administration is a basic prerequisite for the functioning of a state. The quality of its actions determines the rule of law, \nprogress, and social equality, as well as public services and, consequently, the acceptance of citizens. Nevertheless, many questions about the functioning of public authorities and the effects of their actions remain unanswered in research, not least due to the lack of empirical research.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Our goals<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The graduate college has therefore set itself the goal of, firstly, empirically examining the individual components of good administration and, secondly, researching the reasons for good administrative action and the possibilities for influencing it. The spectrum of reasons to be examined in the individual PhD projects includes the regulatory framework, the power of individual groups, leadership and culture in the administration, the personnel and technical resources of a public authority, communication with citizens and businesses, and the resources available to administrative staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Our approach<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This results in a broad interdisciplinary field ranging from jurisprudence to economics and social sciences to sociology and psychology. \nThis interdisciplinarity is also reflected in the qualification and supervision. In various formats, all doctoral students gain insight \ninto the methods and theories of the other disciplines and, finally, have the opportunity to apply the results of their research in a \npublic administration as part of a research project.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n
